Glasgow is the biggest shopping destination in Scotland and is only behind London for being the biggest in the United Kingdom. There is a wide range of indoor shopping centre and top brand high street stores situated throughout the city. The main shopping region is the pedestrianised area of Sauchiehall Street, Argyle Street and Buchanan Street. Along this area you will find a range of the top High Street brand stores such as HMV and WH Smith.
There are also some excellent indoor shopping areas, arguably the best is Buchanan Galleries with over 80 stores and an excellent city centre location next to Buchanan Street Station. Another popular indoor shopping centre is the St Enoch centre which is the largest shopping centre in Scotland. It is family friendly and has a range of top stores including Debenhams, GAP and the largest food court in Scotland.
If you are looking for a true Glaswegian shopping experience and are looking for a bargain then try the Barras market which is a selection of open market stalls selling a variety of goods. It also has a reputation for selling counterfeit goods but it is a unique shopping experience. |
