The collection was made up over many years by a rich industrialist by the name of Sir William Burrell and it was given as a gift to the city of Glasgow in 1944.
The museum was officially opened in 1983 by the Queen and it has been attracting new visitors ever since. There is a range of Art and objects from various periods.
Features include Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, Chinese Art and information on Sir William Burrell himself as well as the award winning building within which the museum is housed. |
