The Botanic Gardens were created in 1817 and they are sitauted a couple of miles north of the city centre. There are a range of events and exhibiton which run throughout the year, check the offical website for details of these.

At the gardens the main sights are the Kibble Palace Glasshouse which dates from the 18th centuary, extensive tropical plant collections and Trees and shrubs incluing a 200 year old Weeping Ash.

The gardens are open daily from 7am and they are easily reached by car, bus, underground or walking from the city centre.
